Many people have reaped the rewards of a quality education at the Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) since it opened in 1975. As a government owned, Category One Institute of Education, EIT offers more than 130 programmes at masters, postgraduate, degree, diploma, and certificate level across an impressive range of subject areas. In 2014, EIT had more than 10,000 students, and welcomed over 400 international students from more than 40 countries.

Whether you wish to study in the city or by the sea, EIT has a campus to suit you. Our main campus in Hawke’s Bay offers an excellent lifestyle; Mediterranean climate with beaches at your doorstep, 160km of bike trails, and award-wining wineries. Driving between Napier and Hastings will take you a mere 15-20 minutes, and both cities offer a wide range of cafes, restaurants, and shopping options.

Also on the east coast of New Zealand is Gisborne, the first city in the world to see the sunrise each day. This city is famous for its relaxed lifestyle, sandy beaches, great surf, and golden vineyards. It’s small enough to be friendly and welcoming, yet big enough to have all the amenities of the major centres.

For those who want the big city feel, EIT’s Auckland campus is in the heart of New Zealand’s largest city. Near the campus on Queen Street are cafes, restaurants, galleries, parks, as well as an array of top-brand shops. From the central city it is easy to explore some of Auckland’s many attractions, including the stunning beaches, pristine rainforests, wineries, and the islands in the magnificent Hauraki Gulf.

EIT works hard to ensure its students succeed in their field of study. We are proud of our academic staff who are highly qualified with real-world experience and teaching skills. With a significantly lower student-lecturer ratio than at a university, students here have direct access to lecturers. It is also important that EIT meets the demand of key industry groups, as well as the wider employment market, and the Institute networks closely with the local community to improve employment options for our students.

With industry-focused programmes, which combine practical skills with a sound theory base, well-qualified and experienced lecturers and tutors, the latest facilities, and an excellent graduate employment rate, EIT is a great choice for international students.
